Have you ever heard the phrase first world problems? Well, I’m aware that we have a whole lot to be grateful for in this great country that we live in.
We have a whole lot of freedom and a modern economy, technology, and medicine makes life quite comfortable.
Just look at how we are able to combat the temperature and the elements of the outside world within the buildings that we construct. I’m speaking of course of HVAC technology. It really is a marvelous thing to create your own climate within your home. These days, you can manipulate the temperature as well as the humidity levels. This is all really amazing, but sometimes I think climate control is abused. I live in a rather hot part of the country, so I can understand when people want air conditioning and plenty of it. However, a lot of the businesses around here seem to overdo it. If I walk into a fast food chain, the air vents are always blasting freezing cold air. If I walk into the mall, it is quite impressive how cold it is for the size of the building! I wonder how much they would save if they turned the temperature down a couple notches. I guess that’s a first world problem: too much air conditioning. I’m sure others would ask me how I would like it if there was no air conditioning at all. I would not like it in the least and I am very grateful for having air conditioning. Still, we can afford to be more moderate with it.
