I Remained Calm and Got My Furnace Fixed:

In my short 27 years of life, I’ve learned that I can plan and plan, but there will still be things that pop up that I didn’t prepare for. As a control freak, I used to hate this. Anything that wasn’t part of my plan would make me hyperventilate and send me in a downward spiral. Now, I’ve learned to take things as they come and let the things I can’t control go. My new mentality didn’t come easy, and I spent years training myself to let go. My family is shocked at how far I’ve come! Last weekend, I was in charge of hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house. Although I spent weeks preparing everything, there were still hiccups on the big day. 5 hours before my family was supposed to arrive, my furnace stopped working. I fumbled around on the thermostat, but nothing brought my furnace back to life. I lit the fireplace in hopes of warming up the living room, but the rest of the house grew cold. The old me would’ve had a complete panic attack, but the new me remained calm. I called the local HVAC emergency service and they had an HVAC technician at my house within 2 hours. The HVAC technician was only in my house for 30 minutes before he discovered the problem. My furnace filter was clogged, causing the whole thing to shut down. My heat exchanger was overheated from all the dirt and dust. Thankfully, he had my furnace up and running before my family arrived for dinner!
