I hope all my work will pay off this winter

The Wintertime is here & the frosty cold is on top of us now. The HVAC is pumping out heating & all of us are spending far less time outdoors. Plus, with the spike in the virus spread, it’s going to be even more time with just my immediate family in our beach home this Wintertime. My husband and I have been working from our beach home since all this started. And I imagine that we will both be doing the same for several more months to come to be safe. With this thought in mind, I decided that I wanted to redouble my efforts in order to make our beach home as cozy as possible this year. And the thought of saving a bunch of money on the heating bills didn’t hurt my feelings either. This fall, I took some time to be sure that our beach home was the most prepared it could be for Wintertime. Our beach home was built in the early 1970s and it’s in good shape. But like any older home, it’s just not as tightly sealed up as it used to be. I read that making sure the home is sealed up is the very best thing a homeowner can do to save money on their heating costs. Additionally, the coziness factor goes way up. Sealing up the home really reduces those pesky drafts. I kicked off my efforts just by making sure the weather stripping around all of the doors was replaced. And then, I updated the rear storm door. I spent an entire day caulking any gap or crack I could find on the exterior of my home. The following week, I also did the same thing in the attic before laying down yet another layer of insulation. Finally, I reinsulated some of the window casings to be sure that they weren’t letting HVAC treated air out or the frosty cold air in. I hope that it will help with our heating bills!
