I remember this one assignment we got in school because I actually was able to reach out to my teacher.
We had this writing assignment where we had to convince somebody of the importance of something that meant a lot to us.
The one thing that I wanted to achieve was getting to teacher to understand how important the temperature control settings were in our classroom. I studied a lot about HVAC systems and how they needed proper maintenance and care to work well. I also looked up various studies about how students are able to study better when they are in a comfortable learning environment. This included reasonable temperature control settings and the use of a good air purification system or powerful air purifier. When I wrote my paper, I used all of the information I gathered and I put together a pretty good argument as to why we should have excellent temperature control in our learning environment. The paper must have been really good because not only did I get an “A” on my paper, but after that, the teacher adjusted the temperature control settings. While we used to be roasting in the classroom with it being around 75 plus degrees, the temperature was lowered on the thermostat to 71 which was just right. I knew it was because of my paper because I actually made the suggestion that 71 was a reasonable temperature for students and they would be able to excel in their learning environment. It would enable everybody to focus better and to become more involved because they were feeling so much more comfortable.
