I really appreciate the fact that our school has an indoor gym.
It’s a really nice building and it’s large enough to accommodate a basketball court, plenty of space for spectators, a few office rooms, and even some classrooms.
We never really had all that much of a problem with the HVAC system as far as I knew. I had to come to rely on the fact that the air conditioning unit in the heating system was always working well. Throughout my high school years, whether I was attending a class or playing on the basketball court, the HVAC system always kept us all comfortable. Then, one day during my junior year, something quite unfortunate happened. Our basketball team was getting ready for a home game that would take place in a few hours. Classes were letting out when all of the sudden there was a loud banging noise. After that there was no heat. If that were not bad enough, shortly afterwards, the air conditioning unit kicked in full blast. We had no idea what happened to the HVAC unit, but what we did know was that it was 40° outside and the air conditioning inside the gym was going full tilt! Staff had to hurry up and call out an HVAC technician if we were going to be able to have the game in the gym that night. I don’t think either team would have been able to deal with the frigid cold of the air conditioning on top of it being so cold outside already!
