Being an adult is a lot harder than I anticipated. It’s not all fun and freedom like everyone makes it sound. While you do have more liberties as an adult, it also comes with a lot more responsibilities. The one thing I didn’t anticipate when becoming a responsible homeowner, was all the maintenance that came along with it. My house sits on half an acre, and I thought this was completely manageable when I first bought it. My parents tried to warn me that it would need constant upkeep, especially in the summertime, but I laughed it off. I was convinced that I could handle it by myself. 6 weeks into summer and I had to hire someone to do all my yardwork from there on out. I ran my heating and air all day every day, and made changes to the temperature regularly. I paid no attention to the air filters, the ducts, or the outside condenser. They just call to tell me when it needs serviced, they show up whenever, and I pay a small fee.
