Double check thermostat

You should double check your thermostat connections if your power goes off at any time. That’s because particular control units out there are wired in instead of battery powered. If you don’t know which one you have, chances are your thermostat is wired in. If it were battery powered, then you would really have had to change the batteries by this point. Anyway, a few weeks ago, I noticed that my gas furnace was not working for some reason. The weather is still really cold around here and the snow is still on the ground pretty thickly. We had a really cold snap and during that same night, the power went out all over the neighborhood. The temperature in the house got really cold really fast. It was a great thing that we have a wood burning fireplace in the house. If we had not had the wood burning fireplace, I think that we would have really frozen that night! My friend and I weren’t prepared to be without power, that’s for sure. Anyway, over the next few mornings, the power came back on, however the house wasn’t heating up the way that I thought it should have. It turned out that there wasn’t something wrong with the gas furnace after all. The problem was that we forgot to reset the thermostat after the power came on. I thought that it would just come back on and start to run the same schedule however it didn’t! If you have a problem with your gas furnace, check your thermostat connections before you call for repairs.
