Chronic Pain Makes Me Feel Overheated So I Need A/C

When I don’t have the a/c thermostat set lower than most other people, I begin to get wet and sweaty hair, which makes me feel really crummy

There are thousands, maybe even millions, of people who suffer with chronic pain. I never thought I would understand old people and all their ways, but as I get well into my 50s, I understand them more and more. A lot of what they – and now I – do, is based on chronic pain. For example, I went to the nearby state park with springs the other day. As a younger person, I fearlessly climbed the ladder and jumped in from the high platform. Nowadays, though, I can’t do that because I can’t climb like I used to. There are a million such examples. There is also a side effect of chronic pain that I did not know existed, and that is being overheated a lot of the time . If I have to stand or walk or complete physical activity, my arthritis pain makes me long for air conditioning. If I don’t have the a/c blasting, I get hot and sweaty just doing minimal things. When I don’t have the a/c thermostat set lower than most other people, I begin to get wet and sweaty hair, which makes me feel really crummy. I don’t even like to cook anymore because between the heat of the stove mixed with the pain response means the a/c is not even good enough to keep me comfortable. If you have someone in your family who is dealing with chronic pain, you should help him or her by ensuring that the a/c is always in good working order. If my a/c ever goes out, I will be spending my life at the hotel where the a/c is both working and free!
