Central Air Conditioning vs. Split Ductless System:

Growing up, my home always had a central air conditioning system installed. All of our air was distributed throughout the house via ductwork. Along with each central air conditioning system comes a thermostat. We always had a thermostat in one of the downstairs rooms, where we could adjust the temperature settings. Of course, as kids, we were never aloud to even breath in the direction of the thermostat. Only my parents could touch it. Now that I’m an adult and living on my own, I find myself in an apartment that doesn’t have a central air conditioning system. Instead, there’s a split ductless system installed. It took some getting used to, but I think I finally have it figured out. There is a compressor and condenser outside, paired with 3 inside air blowers. The one in my living room is rather large and stands upright in a corner. It’s an eyesore to say the least, but it gets the job done. The unit in my master bedroom is mounted high on the wall. While a central air system that I’m used to would cool an entire home evenly, the split ductless system only cools the room that the air blower is in. There are individual remotes for each unit, that control only the temperature settings for the air blower it’s designated to. Having experiencing both AC options, I prefer the central cooling system more. I think it cools a home more evenly and with efficiency. The split ductless system has to constantly start and restart, working hard to only cool the space it’s in.
