My boyfriend Steve is really handy.
The guy can do repairs on a car, electric, plumbing or HVAC system in under an hour flat.
There is no issue he can’t tackle. I warned my boyfriend to hide how handy he was from my family. My family is a bunch of freeloaders that use the fact that Steve is too nice to tell them no to free labor. He gets called by my family all the time for home repairs. One day he is repairing the hot water tank for my father. The next day he is doing a cooling tune up for my sister. Over the weekend he might get stuck installing heated flooring for my brother. I have tried to get him to stand up for himself. I want him to charge them for HVAC installs and repairs. He should make money for his services. He is too nice to ask though. I now am trying to encourage him to just say no. Tell my mother to mess with her own air conditioner. Let my brother’s plumbing totally rot out. Steve feels guilty when they ask and feels like he has to do it. I guess the next step is me stepping in. I will need to tell my family to pay him like a HVAC contractor or they get no more labor. The only repairs to HVAC, plumbing and electric he will do is for me. That is only because I feed him and I am dating the guy. They don’t deserve his skills.
