When you live in the southern part of the country like we do, you learn how to deal with the heat.
Sometimes in the summertime, the temperatures outside can absolutely be unbearable.
We have been through a lot of heat waves when the temperature gets well above a hundred degrees! So when you’re dealing with heat like that, there are a couple of things that you learn pretty quickly that you can’t live without. As a southerner, I can tell you that those two things are sweet iced tea and air conditioning! As long as I can remember, we never once opened the windows in our house. They might as well be painted shut because in the south when the winter goes away, the summer arrives almost immediately. And in the summer, you need the air conditioning! There are really no in between temperatures down here. Sometimes our cooling bill in the summer soars to astronomical heights, especially when we’re in the middle of a heat wave, but I don’t even care. I will scrimp and save and pull from all of our other budgeted money just to make sure that we have all of the air conditioning that we need. In my opinion, there’s nothing else as important as A/C in the summertime down here. So yeah, maybe sometimes I go a little overboard turning the thermostat down but for me, it’s totally worth it. I’m just glad that we have a newer high efficiency A/C unit in our house. Otherwise, the cooling costs in the summer would be enough to break the bank.
