I was very happy when I caught a little energy saving tip from a friend of mine while having a general conversation.
- The energy saving tip I got was related to heating and air conditioning believe it or not.
My friend was mentioning how he had been saving a ton of money on his monthly energy bills by simply using portable heat and a/c equipment most of the time verses having to run his central heating and air conditioning system. He would run his central heating and air conditioning system still, but the central heat and a/c unit would only be on at night while he was sleeping. In the day, afternoon and evening if he was at home he would be running a few portable space heaters in the winter, and then running a portable air conditioning system in the summer time. He was going on about how he was saving several hundred dollars or more per year by doing this all year round. He also mentioned how him and his family were able to take a summer vacation last year because of all the money he saved on the monthly electric bills. That was enough to sell me on the idea of getting myself some portable heating and cooling equipment myself. I was going to follow the same methods he did and see what it does for me. I am single and live alone, so if I end up with the same savings I could take a personal vacation or buy some expensive things I have been wanting!
